What D-STAR is
D-STAR is a digital voice standard for amateur radio. Stations identify by callsign, and reflectors link stations over the internet. A reflector is split into modules, each named by a letter, and each module is a conversation of its own: link to a module and you hear everyone else on it.
In Unified Radios, D-STAR runs over the internet, straight from the app, on any Android phone or tablet and on supported radios. The app links with the callsign on your account, and like every digital mode in the app, D-STAR uses your DMR ID too.

There are two D-STAR reflector families in the app, each with its own list. Both are refreshed daily, with each reflector checked for a reply.
DCS reflectors
DCS reflectors: pick a reflector and a module letter, and link with your callsign.
REF reflectors
REF reflectors, with your D-STAR callsign registration checked as you link.
Pick, link and talk.
- Choose DCS or REF in the network list, then a reflector: search by name or place.
- Pick a module letter from the list.
- Press Push to Talk. The radio face shows who is talking.
- If a reflector turns down a module or your callsign, the app tells you.

Do I need a D-STAR radio or a hotspot?
The app links to DCS and REF reflectors itself, over Wi-Fi or cellular, from an Android phone, tablet or supported radio.
What is the difference between DCS and REF reflectors?
They are two families of D-STAR reflectors, and the app lists both the same way. REF reflectors also check that your callsign is registered for D-STAR.
How do I pick a module?
After you pick a reflector, pick a module letter from the list. Each module is its own conversation.
What does the app need from my account?
Sign up with your callsign and we bring in your DMR ID, which every digital mode uses. You can also start without a callsign and add both later.
