M17 on Android: the open digital voice mode.
Pick an M17 reflector and a module letter, and talk. No hotspot and no address to type.
What M17 is
M17 is an open digital radio protocol made for amateur radio. Its specification is public, and its voice codec is the open Codec 2. Stations identify by callsign. Over the internet, M17 stations meet on reflectors. A reflector is split into modules, each named by a letter and each a conversation of its own.
In Unified Radios, M17 runs over the internet, straight from the app, on any Android phone or tablet and on supported radios. The app connects with the callsign on your account, and like every digital mode in the app, M17 uses your DMR ID too.

M17 questions.
Do I need an M17 radio or a hotspot?
The app connects to M17 reflectors itself, over Wi-Fi or cellular, from an Android phone, tablet or supported radio.
What makes M17 different?
It is an open protocol: its specification is public, and its voice codec, Codec 2, is open too.
How do modules work?
A reflector is split into modules named by letters, each its own conversation. Pick one when you connect, and pick another to move over.
What does the app need from my account?
Sign up with your callsign and we bring in your DMR ID, which every digital mode uses. You can also start without a callsign and add both later.
Is M17 free in the app?
Yes. Talking on M17 reflectors, and the reflector list, are free with every account.
